Originally I was going to finish a different reaper, but it was proving too time-consuming, so I’m going to have to go back to the drawing board for that one. But this one proved much more cooperative. I rather like what I did with this one. It was very easy to pull off, considering she doesn’t consist of much color, hence her name.
I might change the detail of the wings, but I’m satisfied with this for now. And before anyone thinks they should criticize me on what butterfly wings should look like (Cuz I had a few others try to tell me how to draw my jackal) please understand that this is a SPIRIT, a SPECTRE, a PHANTOM. Such creatures have a reputation of MIMICING forms that are considered tangible so that it can help viewers identify what they are. I am fully aware of the in depth detail actual butterfly wings have, but I decided not to go that far because it didn’t seem necessary. I wanted her to have wings that mimicked only the SHAPE, the rest is meant to look more supernatural and spiritual.
Now, with that said, please respect my intention, and if you do still want to put down a proper criticism, then by all means do so, but don’t make it about how this piece SHOULD be done, because to me, I have accomplished everything I wanted in this piece, I may change a few things if I so choose, but I wont listen to anyone that will say, “You did her feet wrong” or “Arms are not that thin” You would be right, IF I was trying to actually illustrate real human anatomy. So please, respect that.
Anyways, with all of that aside, I continue with the biography.
“You look in the mirror and you see flaw.”
“Others see your beauty, but you call it lies”
“Now you lay here, the color drained from your face.”
“Your gorgeous form now withered and pale.”
The Pale Papillon is of one of the most gentle and sympathetic of the Zodiac Reapers. She is the collector of souls that were once regarded as the most beautiful and gorgeous. But many had died consumed by their own vanity and/or futility. Much like the Broken Doll, The Pale Papillon reaps those who, despite their high stature and mass appeal, are frail and self-loathing. If one can recognize their own inner beauty and accept the things that make them truly special, then the Papillon comes to you as a gorgeous woman, full of color and light, serving as reflection of your greatest qualities.
Those that fall under the fate of the Pale Paillon are regarded as popular, beautiful, and appealing to many. But despite their privileges they have much insecurity. They struggle to make their outer selves beautiful because they dread rejection. They live shallow lives and ignore those that they consider less attractive then them because they have aloud their morality and perception to be corrupted. This is an issue that many fail to overcome, but if able, those that will recognize the true meaning of being beautiful will only then find their own salvation.
